Barcino

Having wine in Spain: A lovey picture.

Earlier tha
t day, Tin had mentioned she wanted to drink. And I was itching for one too soon after the rain started pouring. A few texts and a call after, the night was set for a class-y version of another drinking session.

By 7pm, we've already started our way to Ortigas going to Barcino but it wasn't til around 8-ish that we got there. Poor Tracy was waiting since 6:50 (soaking wet with nothing but tissue to dry her up, looking like she got stood up and was eagerly desperate for a no-show date). Fortunate for her, we were only a little over an hour late.

Going to Barcino, I was very excited about what to drink. And their list was splendid: justly-priced good wines. Although I was half-hoping they had Beringer (though I knew they didn't), we opted to go with the Vallformosa which was out of stock and so we settled for Les Planes Chardonnay (whatever that is) and I liked it. I was already a bit tipsy after I had my 4th glass but I loved the hit.

The place was lovable too. Its cozy and intimate setting makes you feel like you're in a countryside restaurant-bar in Spain. It's perfect for dates or casual nights out with friends. Their cool display of wines, the menu list framed with wine corks, wine barrels (though I'm not really sure if they were once used for wine) and wood furniture all add up to the Spanish-like experience.

The food was excellent. Last time I went there before this night, we tried their paellas and those were my favorites. Special mention to their Paella Negra. It was flavorful and good for those who are on "diet." A couple of bites of the Paella Negra will make you feel full but it's so good that it won't really satisfy you.

They have a number of tapas and tapitas as well. The Chorizo Bilbao and their Croquetas are also good. There are still more of Barcino food I need to try but every bite will surely remind you of Spain.
